Opening Doors to Play, Growth, and Belonging
Scholarships & Grants
The Denton Parks Foundation is making a meaningful impact on local residents by expanding access to parks, programs, and outdoor experiences through scholarships and grants. By reducing financial barriers, the Foundation helps children, families, and individuals of all backgrounds participate in recreational programs, educational opportunities, and community events that enrich quality of life. These investments strengthen neighborhood connections, promote health and wellness, and ensure Denton’s parks and programs remain welcoming and accessible to everyone.
Scholarship Applications
Scholarship applications are administered through the City of Denton Parks and Recreation Department. Eligible residents may apply directly through the department to receive assistance for qualifying programs and activities. These scholarships help ensure that financial barriers do not prevent individuals and families from participating in Denton Parks and Recreation opportunities.
For application details, eligibility requirements, and deadlines, please visit the City of Denton Parks and Recreation Department website or contact their office directly, (940) 349-7275.
After-School Care
Studies show that children who return from school to an empty house have lower self-esteem, lower academic achievement and higher levels of depression. For this reason, we provide partial scholarships to help children have access to after-school care. Including both recreational activities and educational support.
Pre-K
Pre-K helps develop foundational skills like learning to be a learner, finding one’s own curiosity, and developing problem-solving techniques. Partial scholarships through the Denton Parks Foundation help cover the cost for Pre-K. And as a result, more children in our community have access to a foundation for a lifetime of learning.
Recreational Programs
We believe everyone should have access to normative activities. From Zumba to blast ball, partial scholarships help families cover these extracurricular costs. And as a result, more residents can increase their quality of life and create a healthier lifestyle.
Summer Camps & Programs
Summer programs provide many added benefits for children including gains in learning and growth in social skills. Yet equal access is often a challenge. Partial scholarships help ensure that our smallest Texans aren’t alone during the summer months.
Swim for Life
Drowning is the second leading cause of injury death of infants and children younger than 15 years old in the U.S. In fact, for every child who drowns, four children are hospitalized for a near-drowning incident. We believe all children should have access to lifesaving swimming skills regardless of the ability to pay.
Denton Senior Center & American Legion Hall Senior Center
Our local senior centers serve as gathering places for adults aged 50 years and older to enjoy daily SPAN lunches and fellowship, monthly socials and seminars, frequent trips, and special events. Grants cover the cost of a rec pass
